Spinal Injections are a useful diagnostic and therapeutic tool.

Diagnostic in that they can often aid in the confirmation and localization of the pain generator.

Therapeutic in that the pain generator can be then anaesthetized to provide temporary or in less severe cases often a long lasting pain relief.

They are often used as an adjunct prior to proposed major surgery especially if there is any doubt about the origin of the pain.
